How to get a key (step by step)
  1. Go to Google Cloud Console
  2. Create a new project (any name works, e.g. "Stremio")
  3. Open APIs & Services → Library
  4. Search for YouTube Data API v3 and click Enable
  5. Go to APIs & Services → Credentials
  6. Click Create Credentials → API Key
  7. Copy the key and paste it below

The free tier gives you 10,000 units/day — enough for ~80 catalog loads. Your key is encoded in the install URL and never stored on any server.

Channels ? Pick which YouTube channels appear in your catalog. These are curated creators who upload high-quality game movies. You can also add any channel by its ID.

How to add a channel

Easiest way: Use the "Search for a YouTube channel" box above — type the channel name and click the result to add it.

Manual method (channel ID):

  1. Go to the YouTuber's channel page on YouTube
  2. Most channels show a URL like youtube.com/@username — this is their handle, not their channel ID
  3. To find the ID: right-click anywhere on the channel page → View Page Source → press Ctrl+F and search for channel_id
  4. The channel ID starts with UC and looks like UCiZVMOinTQGb8HQu53VbV4Q
  5. Paste that ID into the "Add YouTube Channel ID" box

💡 Tip: The search method above is much easier — you won't need to dig for channel IDs manually.

Genres ? These genres appear as filters in Stremio's catalog. Each one searches YouTube with specific keywords. Deselect genres you don't care about to keep the filter list clean.

Filter catalog by genre

Preferences ? Quality filters by resolution metadata. Min duration lets you skip short clips (set to 0 to allow all). The YouTube pre-filter uses YouTube's fixed categories to narrow results before fetching. Sort controls the result ordering.

Search Keywords ? These keywords are added to every YouTube search automatically. "No commentary" filters out Let's Plays with talking. "Cinematic" focuses on movie-style edits. Turn them off for broader results.

â–ļ Advanced ? Advanced settings that can affect search results. Only change these if you know what you're doing — incorrect keywords can return irrelevant results or break the catalog entirely.

Blacklist ? Hide specific videos you don't want to see. Paste YouTube video IDs (the part after v= in the URL), one per line.
